Symbols & Cymbals

Dear Writers,

Like the groundhog, I’ve been peeking my head out of the ground to consider whether or not the thaw I feel is to be trusted. I’m thinking it is. This long winter of COVID may not be over, but like many of you, I’m ready to open up again. I’m also about to graduate from my two-year MFA program (Vermont College of Fine Arts, in Fiction), and this June, I’ll be presenting a graduating lecture on Songwriting. What do I know about songwriting? Glad you asked!

Actually, to make sure I remember, I’m going to run a ten-week Songwriting Class on Tuesday evenings, starting March 22 and running through May 31. Participants will write songs and learn about song structure, and it will be open to beginners and experienced songwriters alike. Limited to six participants, and five of those slots have already been taken. Time will be 7-9pm EDT. For more information, please go here or scroll down.

After I check in with my current writers, I will be sending out another email in a couple of weeks about the openings in the other writing groups. The planned Spring classes will be a continuation of the Winter’s, to wit:

Mondays 12:30-2:30pm
Tuesdays 12:30-2:30pm
Tuesday evenings Songwriting 7-9pm
Wednesdays 12:30-2:30pm
Wednesday evenings 7-9pm
Thursdays 12:30-2:30pm
Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm

All groups Zoom or hybrid. I continue to hope I’ll be welcoming you back to Little Blue very soon!

Love, Nerissa
